A CLOSER LOOK INSIDE THE WOOD POST ANCHOR

Available in 4×4, 4×6, 6×6 and 8×8 sizes for wood posts on wood or composite decks, stairs, patios, concrete or other hard surfaces.

A sharp-edged, lightweight, rigid tube tracks into a pre-drilled circular saw kerf and then cuts deep into the core of the wood post. The tube holds the post and anchor together longer providing greater security rather than screws alone. This makes the connection more visually appealing. Where more strength is needed, optional Post Braces are available

HOW IT WORKS

DRILL

The 4×4 and 4×6: Use an off the shelf 1 ¼”x2″ hole saw to cut a pilot cut for the tube.

The 6×6 and 8×8: Use an off the shelf 1 ¾”x2″ hole saw to cut a pilot cut for the tube.

DRIVE

Use a 3 lb mini sledge to drive tube into post beyond the depth of hole saw cut.

FASTEN

Pre-drill holes and drive lag screws into the post.

WHY IT WORKS

POST ANCHOR INSTALLATION

Installing the Post Anchor on a common softwood post. Let’s get going.

Get yourself a suitable size post. The post anchor was designed to work with common Spruce, Pine Fir lumber available at your local lumberyard. But it also works with Cedar, Redwood and exotic hardwoods.

INSTALL ON WOOD

To properly secure the post anchor to a wood surface, ensure that there is wood blocking like a 2×6 or 2×8 below the deck boards and between the joist.

Pre-drill the screw holes if they are too close to the edge of a board to prevent splitting.

COMPOSITE, SYNTHETIC OR HARDWOOD

The same principle applies to composite and synthetic deck boards. It’s a good idea to pre-drill the screw holes so the screws can drive in easier without snapping off the heads.

The composite and synthetic material can be very dense and sometimes similar to hardwoods.

AND EVEN CONCRETE OR MASONRY

Set one screw to secure the anchor while pre-drilling the other holes. Drill 1/2″ deeper than the length of the screw.

Once the holes are drilled, remove the template anchor and position the post and anchor over the holes for attachment.

One concrete screw per corner is enough to keep the post and anchor secure given the pull-out resistance of each screw.

Titan post anchor

I don’t like the square drive fasteners. I find the square drive strips out too easily when applying the amount of torque needed to seat the lag screw. I used 10 of these post anchors for my new deck project and drove them down using a 3/8 ratchet only. Great product, not so great fasteners. I would recommend Torx drive lag screws. Square drive is almost as bad as phillips drive when a lot of torque is needed to drive the fasteber.

Hum......how about what the county does not know will not hurt them. Grin!!

Finding a true 2 inch deep hole saw is just about impossible in todays tool market. You might consider shortening that up a bit as those 4 Lag screws will hold an elephant. Also as it was my deck and I had no retired ice cream truck driver impersonating a building inspector watch me I only used 4 of the black securing screws to mount to deck and into the backer material. I thought using all 8 was a bit much. I used one at each corner. They are for sure strong and high quality. I have no complaints. Cheers Kit

Easier than expected

I bought 10 of these to add a railing to my to my Trex deck. I’m a weekend warrior and this is the first deck I’ve built. I’m fairly handy but some of the comments I read had me spooked. I mounted two posts today fairly easily. The biggest challenge is that my right wrist (my dominant hand) is broken and my Dewalt screw gun has tremendous torque. That led to some interesting moments. Otherwise, everything was straight forward. Oh, shims are your friend.

Post are rock solid.

These work extremely well and the Post are rock solid. I would suggest you order all the hardware that comes with the titan fastener. The instructions sheet is extremely easy to understand. Everything you need to know.Read it carefully and you “ will not make any mistakes.

Wood post anchors-great product

I purchased several wood post anchors to connect gazebo posts to a wooden deck. These products are made extremely well and the directions provided clear instructions on how to install them. I was a bit skeptical about pounding them into the posts but every one went in straight and smooth with a little elbow grease. I would use them again if needed and highly recommend their use.

Post and Handrail Brackets are amazing!

These post anchors and the associated covers and handrail brackets used with Cedar posts and Cedar 2×4 handrails made for an amazing deck and staircase. The post anchors are SOLID and the posts have no wobble in them whatsoever. I couldn’t be happier with the professional finished look we got with the Titan hardware!

Titan 4x4 post anchor

We just had a contractor build a carport with a deck on top and replace a existing deck we had. When the post was put in I just didn’t have confidence in them, just seemed a little flimsy. My wife and I did some research and found your product and bought a few to try out and boy were we impressed. After installing on two of the post there was a huge difference in the stability. We immediately ordered 15 more to install on rest of the post. I thought installation was very easy and we now have peace of mind knowing that our railing is safe. We also have a friend that is redoing a deck and highly recommend they check out your decking system. Oh I almost forgot about the quick service which didn’t hold up our project. Awesome!

This thing is awesome! Decided to add a railing(bad planning) and needed a solution for the corner where I couldn’t add a 4×4 to the inside of the rim. I looked at all of the local home improvement solutions for 5x the cost and none seemed sturdy. I placed mine on top of the corner of my framing on the rim joist and blocked around and into the 4×4 that I previously cutoff (again didn’t plan for the railing) doing this gave me a place to sink the lag bolts. It took a little time to get the center hole in the 4×4 just right and a bfh, but very happy with the results and product. My railing is not moving!!

very solidr

These are the best anchors I’ve ever used. They are very solid. The only problem I had was that when I was trimming around them, the lag bolts that that held them into the 4 x 4’s got into the way of the the nails that I was using for trim. Other that that, they are about as solid as can be. I would definatly use them again!!
