WHY IT WORKS

xpost_anchor_profile_400
titan-post-anchor-inside

A sharp-edged, lightweight, rigid tube cuts deep into the core of the wood post and diverts enough load away from the screws to increase the overall load resistance. It is now possible for a surface-mounted anchor to be used for residential code-compliant wood railings.

A truly innovative and effective solution.

DIMENSIONS

TIPR 4402

This model will work with posts between 3-½” and 4″ square.

TIPR 4602

This model works with nominal 4×6 posts and up to true 4″x 6″.

TIPR 6602

Great for railings, pergolas, pavillions and support columns. Secures posts between 5-½” and 6″ square.

TIPR 8802

The model is often used for large timber construction projects and secures posts between 7-¼” to 8″ square.

FAST AND EASY MAINTENANCE

RESIDENTIAL CODE COMPLIANCE

The Titan Post Anchor has been independently tested by world-renowned engineering firm Intertek for residential compliance in the United States and Canada when installed at recommended post height and spacing.

The USA tests have been carried out in accordance with AC273 for Handrails and Guards as set out by the IRC.  Canadian tests have been done in accordance with the Canadian Building Code with applicability for all ten provinces.

POST ANCHOR INSTALLATION

Installing the Post Anchor on a common softwood post. Let’s get going.

Get yourself a suitable size post. The post anchor was designed to work with common Spruce, Pine Fir lumber available at your local lumberyard. But it also works with Cedar, Redwood and exotic hardwoods.

INSTALL ON WOOD

To properly secure the post anchor to a wood surface, ensure that there is wood blocking like a 2×6 or 2×8 below the deck boards and between the joist.

Pre-drill the screw holes if they are too close to the edge of a board to prevent splitting.

COMPOSITE, SYNTHETIC OR HARDWOOD

The same principle applies to composite and synthetic deck boards.  It’s a good idea to pre-drill the screw holes so the screws can drive in easier without snapping off the heads.

The composite and synthetic material can be very dense and sometimes similar to hardwoods.

AND EVEN CONCRETE OR MASONRY

Set one screw to secure the anchor while pre-drilling the other holes. Drill 1/2″ deeper than the length of the screw.

Once the holes are drilled, remove the template anchor and position the post and anchor over the holes for attachment.

One concrete screw per corner is enough to keep the post and anchor secure given the pull-out resistance of each screw.

New Railing

I used the 4X4 post anchor when building a new railing. I STRONGLY recommend the hammer tool to assist in hammering in the anchor. I was pleased on how they turned out and the ease of use. The only of not is to make sure that when you hammer the anchor into your 4X4 make sure it is square so your posts are square with each other. It may take laying the whole assembly on the floor and using a large hammer to “adjust” the anchor so it is square to the post. Overall I would recommend their usage. They added to my project cost but it looks much cleaner and more important, the wife is happy.

4x4 Post anchors

I could not be more pleased. These anchors are great. I mounted porch rails on concrete. I used the recommended bolts to connect the anchor to the post, then used tap cons to connect the anchor to the concrete. This resulted in a greatly stable porch railing. I’ve used these anchors and skirts on two jobs so far. Should I find the need again, I will definitely use Titan anchors.

4X4 Post Anchors

These anchors were the perfect anchor for my deck project. I built a pergola on my deck to help support and attach shade sails. They are the most asthetically pleasing and sturdiest anchors on the market today. I’m so glad I did the Internet research before accepting what was available locally in the box stores!

Great product

I used these to install a railing on a concrete stoop and walkway. Although I probably shouldn’t have, I bored the mounting holes out to 3/8″ to accommodate wedge anchors. I love this product, and my project came out amazing!

Concrete install

I was hesitant about using the anchors in concrete for the bottom post of a porch handrail. After an email exhange from the company, I decided to give it a try. It works very well with good rigidity and support for the rail. I would definitely use this product again and recommend it.

Stainless Post Mount

It’s been frustrating that I couldn’t top mount a wood post like I can a vinyl post with structural steel post inside. This seems to be the solution I was looking for. I used them with cedar posts, and they are as rugged as the structural steel posts I use. One tip, make sure there are no big knots near the end you drive the mount into, the knots stop you dead in your tracks.

Great product

I used the 6×6 Post Anchor to mount a 6×6 wood post to concrete. The 8 holes on the outside are small so used concrete screws, pre-drilled and used caulk as lubricant/glue. Bought a 1.75″ drill bit from Amazon for $15.31 to drill the hole (MKMorse) to 1 7/8″ deep, normal hole saws go to 1 3/8″. Since you are sledging the round tube several inches deep into the post, i don’t think the extra 1/2″ makes that much difference.I ordered directly from Titan but it turns out that my local Ace Hardware can get these, in fact they had a display sample.Has a bit of flex, but not much. This is way better than a Simpson strong-tie solution, both in strength and looks.

Great product

At first I thought this product was too expensive. However, it was well worth the money. I suspect if this was a simpson strong tie product, it would have easily been double the cost. I saw another poster complain about the finish. I think the finish was perfect. Also, I used trex post sleeves and skirts, so, it actually covered the anchor, too. If I didn’t use this I would have bought the skirts available on the site. I tried to save money, and I bought the anchor only, and none of the hardware. If I could do it over, I’d have bought the hardware combo, and would have saved about 64 dollars. Oh well, live and learn. I will buy this product for my other deck, too. Lastly, I learned if you attach the base not perfectly square to the post, you just have to put the post on the side ( with the anchor already hammered in, but not secured with the lag screws yet) and hit the higher corner, causing a rotational force, lining the anchor and post up perfectly.

Best Anchor I've Used

We just completed our deck this past weekend and I have to say I’m extremely happy with both the performance and ease of use of the Post Anchor’s. I have to admit I was a little leery after reading the instructions online that only drilling the center hole 1/2 way deep that the full post was going to hammer into the wood. With the sharpened edge it did with ease. (I would suggest buying the little protector thing as I did mash up the bottom a bit on a few of them with the sledge It did/will not impede the overall performance at all but I would use it next time.) Overall a great product way better then the Simpson Strong Ties I’ve used in the past which have that tall ugly box at the bottom…

great Idea!!

Anchored 4- 4 x 4 decorative post to concrete for a stand alone 4ft. high decorative wooden fence to seperate the driveway from the patio. Very strong and stands firm on it’s own. Did not want to run posts all the way up to the top of breezeway ceiling. Just what I needed. I drilled out the anchor bolt holes to 3/8″ for strength and used 3/8″ wedge anchors in the concrete. Sweeeeet!!!!!!!!

Nice product and looks good!

This is a nice product that works very well. You do need to ensure the bracing below is correctly placed for maximum strength. I also noted that it is best to slightly angle the exterior screws when driving with an impact gun to ensure enough clearance. Customer service is excellent as well. I have received many compliments on the final results, so all-in-all I am pleased.

4x4 post anchors

Great design, low visibility. Looks professional once installed. Instructions are straight-forward and easy to follow. I had several posts to install, so I setup sort of an assembly line process. Made it simple. I hammered them in to treated pine posts with a 2 1/2lb hammer. (after drilling the pilot hole first). Easy as pie! They hold very securely with no wobble. Rather than using shims (deck was fairly level already), I simply cinched down on the appropriate bolts to plumb the post. Great product. I would DEFINITELY recommend these to anyone!
